Olympic torch coming to the South Downs

Look out for the Olympic torch on 16 and 17 July as it travels across the South Downs. The route, confirmed today, will bring the torch into the National Park twice as it makes its way from Portsmouth to Brighton on Monday 16 July and then on to Eastbourne on Tuesday 17. Monday 16 July - After leaving Portsmouth the torch will head straight up to Petersfield, arriving at 8.30 in the morning. The South Downs National Park has a vacancy for a new Member to join its governing body. Applicants have until Monday 13 February to apply for the role which will be appointed by the Secretary of State following national, open competition. This is an exciting time to join the UK’s newest National Park.
