Findon Neighbourhood Plan – Part 3 – Time Scales, budget and all things technical

Alex – Project Officer, working in conjunction with Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) & National Association of Local Councils (NALC) made the trip to Findon and, joined by local CPRE and SDNPA representatives spent a good day with us discussing aims, targets, budgets, and project management.

Together, armed with a large supply of coloured post-it notes, A3 sheets and a large dining room wall we made an attractive project plan with our provisional ideas of what we wanted to achieve and by when.

The day gave us the best opportunity yet to ask all the questions we had, to clarify our thought processes and openly discuss our concerns.

It was difficult to identify all the aspect that we wanted to include and to then condense and prioritise them whilst needing to think ahead and decide how to address certain task, so we were grateful of the input and guidance offered.

It helped to have representatives from SDNPA and CPRE with us to discuss how they have managed past projects, offer ideas and even advise of contacts within other organisations that could be approached to assist.

Of course there are many ‘unknowns’ so we are fully prepared that our project plan and budget needs to have a degree of flexibility and these will be monitored carefully throughout the project.  We are also lucky enough to be receiving continued support from Alex and Andrew, who are always at the end of the phone should we have any queries or concerns.

Wonder who they spoke to and what is in the plan .... "large dining room" is a bit worrying !

Not many people in Findon know what is going on ... Winton's shop in the Village Square has been empty for some time .... might be an idea for SDNPA to mount a window display where everyone can see it and ask for comments ... a more ambitious plan would be to open up the premises for Community Use as has been done in other places ... lot of unemployed and semi-retired these days who would love something useful to do.
