Take advantage of a Discovery bus ticket for £12.50 before the 31st August

Explore the South Downs with the whole family this summer holiday for just £12.50. A family day ticket for up to five people is available at this introductory price until 31st August 2014 and gives unlimited travel for one day only. Individual tickets are £8.50 per adult and £7 per child.

The new Discovery ticket is valid on the services of all the main bus operators in West Sussex, East Sussex, Surrey, Brighton & Hove and East Hampshire. The new ticket replaces the previous Explorer ticket. The existing Explorer Ticket will continue to be available only within East Sussex for local travel within the county boundaries, on certain operators’ services.

The new Discovery ticket is an excellent way to explore the South Downs National Park.  Why not use it on the network of additional Sunday and Public Holiday services that are available this summer making the attractions and beautiful countryside of the National Park even more accessible by bus.

For suggested itineraries giving great days out by bus and for 2 for 1 entries for bus users at various visitor attractions, visit www.discoveryticket.co.uk .

If that isn't enough, the FREE family event Secrets of the Heath is being held on 30th and 31st August on Petersfield Heath. Why not get there by bus and take advantage of the final days of the £12.50 family ticket offer? For more information on the event visit our webpage .

I've already used it several times and it's great for opening up the countryside and seeing some great views, especially from the top deck of a bus (new vistas opening up above the hedge-line). It's relaxing travel not having to drive, £-saving and CO2 reducing too - can't be bad.

It's fun with a few of the bus drivers who haven't yet discovered the Discovery, so be patient with them as they frantically search their ticket machines for this new ticket.

Enjoy the ride and explore some great walks over the Downs between bus stops.

PS HURRY - there's also the Downlander ticket (has to be booked in advance) which gives you travel throughout the South Downs area by train and bus, but it's being discontinued so you only have from now until 7th September to take advantage of this great offer: http://www.southernrailwaytickets.com/main.php?page_id=281
